Orbita: 3.000 leapfrogs

24 December 2009

Orbita is an iPhone-powered space-lapse installation. More than 3.000 people experienced the system during the Festival della Scienza in Genova. Here’s a short selection of those smiling, happy jumpers.

Tech notes in brief: we developed a custom app/system to shoot in synch wih 20 iPhones.

This is what we call a challenging project :)

Check our flickr set for some ‘behind the scenes’ pictures.

Multi-touch table shot from above.

26 July 2009

Video documentation of the ‘multitouch’ table. I guess it’s time to find a good name for it :-)
With the satin glass surface the touch feeling is way smoother (and much easier to shoot without unwanted reflections :-)
This is just a demo, in the meanwhile we are developing an advanced media browser for the presentation of the new SKY-HD channels.

Multi-touch solution 95% ready.

10 July 2009

Ok, it’s time to release some material. In the past months we have been working on the development of a multitouch solution. We’ve been busy coding from scratch an AS3 framework,  benchmarking technologies, iterating many design. We’ll be ready with a commercial product at the end of july.
In the meantime enjoy these video snippet of the first tests.

Now with real spam!

10 April 2009

Spamghetto: now with 2000 real spam messages subjects’ scraped from our Gmail’s accounts!
Since we were polling gmail way too quickly, I even had my account locked for ’suspect’ activity for 3 hours :)
A time.sleep() with some random interval was enough to cheat the watchdog.
By the way… we used the lovely Nodebox for the generative graphics (output to PDF) and libgmail to get data from Gmail.

Check the link below, it’s a bigger version (2400*2400 px) with readable text…
